President Obama To Bring Back Slavery

“Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year.”
Someone should tell Mr. Obama that Mr. Lincoln freed the slaves.
While they are at it, they should also tell this Constitutional scholar that the Constitution now forbids involuntary servitude:
Amendment XIII
Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
The Republican Party got rid of slavery 143 years (and a bloody Civil War) ago.
And the Democrats have been working ever since to bring it back.

It should be noted that when this “service” program was mention during the campaign it sounded quite “voluntary.”
Indeed, there was even a financial incentive promised.

Suddenly, all mention of “required” has been disappeared. And the college tuition incentive has been added.
Maybe this is what they mean by “change.”
How many times did I warn everyone that Obama was NOT a socialist, but rather a FASCIST? Why did nobody listen to me?
This idea is called a corvee system, and it was partly what led to the French revolution. You cannot dragoon people into labor camps — especially if they are going to be doing politically motivated work like “teaching” Obama’s social ideals to young children — and then claim you are not a fascist!!!!!!!!!!!
Ugh.
A hundred hours of community service per year in college? When? Between studying and working jobs to pay for school? After working all day during the summer to pay for school?
So, we parents fork over nearly $50,000/year to a college and then they will tell us our kid has to work FREE for 100 hours?!?!
And then he’s going to mail checks — our tax dollars — to those who don’t work (maybe because they didn’t study in school)? Argh!

I’m wondering if they will count hanging up Obama posters as street cleaning, or whether they will count organizing Obama pep rallies as “community organizing.”

Does anyone remember the hue and cry that went up when Congress (the 104th, if memory serves correct) argued over whether or not to require public housing tenants to pitch in and pick up the trash around their buildings?
I remember Rush playing an actuality from some Representative (from NC?) who claimed that the Republicans who pushed for this were on the same level as the Nazis and Russians who used their people in forced labor camps.
We enter another age of “Midnight Basketball” programs upon which to spend our money.
Dare I ask, if you DON’T perform your “required” chore what happens?
So, applying liberal principles behind “green credits,” is there someone else I can pay to do my community service as well?
So what happens if you don’t go to college and don’t work? or worse, become a talk radio host with a conservative agenda?
I can’t to see all the inner city kids out doing their “servitude.” They can’t even complete 4 years of high school let alone work for free.
Change we can’t believe in is on the horizon.
Ya think volunteering to promote conservative candidates and causes would be considered “service”? Say….volunteering to be an adoption advocate at crisis pregnancy centers? Or What about ROTC? Hmm?? This could get very interesting, when they start dictating which causes are worthy.

Yes, they will decide what causes are “worthy” for this new involuntary servitude. Buckle up your seat belts folks, we’re in for a very bumpy ride.
My kid had to do community service hours in middle school. But, they wouldn’t count what you did at church. Nor would they allow any double counting. So if you had to do service hours, even of a secular variety, for Confirmation or Bar Mitzvah (or Scouts), you couldn’t count those either. That was horrible — tons of homework and everyone demanding free labor and oh, by the way, hope your parents can drive you to wherever the service hours are and maybe chaperone, too.
This is extremely disconcerting, I must say.
When people are lost in a cult of personality, they cannot distinguish between partisan politicking and “service” toward some social gospel their fearless leader supposedly represents.
So this whole initiative will turn into German Youth…. very quickly.

So now the government is running one gigantic work study program. This is just as scary. I still want to see what community service entails. I have a feeling it will mean a lot of partisan work packaged under “awareness” and the like.
Any time you talk about Youth “corps” run on a national level under a charismatic demagogue, you are talking about fascism. We’re still in Animal Farm and 1984 simultaneously.

Time for me to re-read “Animal Farm”, sophmore year in high school was a very long time ago.
BTW-Office of the President Elect? He can’t be serious. If it wasn’t so tragic, I would be laughing my a$$ off.
