Open Bar – The 2nd Obama/McCain Debate
A place for drunken commentary on the second Presidential debate.
Let’s hope we see the nasty partisan John McCain!

Got an Hour to get REALLY hammered. Then I am all business..
what is the best way to view the debate? I’m in New Zealand so they don’t show it on tv over here :( & I’m on wireless which is making the cbs site annoying (fox won’t load at all), any other alternatives to try? any dial up friendly ways to listen to it, an online radio station perhaps? thanks
“what is the best way to view the debate?”
Drunk, I’d say.
But you can also try:
C-SPAN Live Stream – C-SPAN

my intention was to take a shot every time one of them says “my friend”, unfortunately with the difficulties in getting it up we have only had a chance to have one! I’m getting doubtful my friend and I will be able to finish off a single beer can at this rate….
Better to drink when O-Who says “middle class” Bombed in 5 minutes..
Writingright – that flurry of my friends would have put you out early…
Hey, I didn’t know that government invented the computer.
You learn something new (from the Democrats) ever day.
How about Tom B offering up a manhattan project for energy – what’s wrong with unleashing the power of the market place – where the personal computer was developed?
So, when do those gloves come off?
Is it too late to change the ticket to Palin/McCain?
You WILL have health care for your children or go to Jail
Wasn’t Clinton in office when we could have intervened in Rwanda to stop the genocide?
yay! on the channel 7 news they are showing live the debate during part of the news, squeezed in quickly two more shots of “my friends” :D
but now it is back to NZ news again…. sigh, being in NZ is going to keep my very sober
So, the “average” fortune 500 CEO would save $700K under McCain. There would be all of 500 of those given it’s pretty much one CEO per company. That’s $350 million in total.
Given that Obama dissed McCain over earmarks because it would only amount to 18 billion, how is something that’s 2% of those earmarks of importance at all. Unless of course he’s actually all about class warfare and needs to spin up a bit of hate.
Can’t just throw them out there, can he? “Wright, Ayers, Raines, Flager, Frank, Dodd, Johnson, ACORN.” You could just use it as a mantra and win this debate (and make it under the 1:30 time limit every time).
Let’s just write Palin in. At this rate I’ll miss two days of work to get drunk enough to vote for McCain.
interesting – Obama just said we need to reduce our energy consumption to counteract Russia’s use of oil as a weapon – what about increasing domestic oil production and development of new energy sources?
Well, I’ve got a bottle of Bookers that I’m going to break the seal on in 4 weeks.
Plus I’m scheduled to give blood the day before the election and I find it much easier to get drunk when I’m a pint low so it’s probably a good thing I’m within staggering distance of my polling site.
Well, that was a disappointment! I should be able to survive the next four years in the Peoples Republic of Amerika as long as the socialist don’t ban 12 year old Jamison
John Galt miss the party?
Hoo boy, now I can think about other things. Tune in, turn on, I’m dropping out. So McCain says nothing about Obama’s plan to implement a no-fly zone over Sudan? Like it’s so easy and bloodless? Gee, think Sudan will start setting up Chinese anti-aircraft weapons? I mean, think hard…mightn’t they?? Brokaw asked the right question regarding use of American forces. What a disappointing answer.
Jason: No, I caught the snoozefest this evening. Wasn’t sure if my running notes weren’t just taking up too much space, here, since one could probably read the transcripts on many different sites.
Plus, I’m a little distracted with greater goals at the moment. My whole department was layed off yesterday, and I am suddenly scrambling with resume-posting on Monster,CareerBuilder, Dice, etc.

I could be longer, especially whe.., ur if President Barack Hussein Mugabe decides a “national emergency” prevents us from having elections.
Sorry to hear that, John. I hope things improve for you soon.
As for the debate, I think McCain did a good job of emphasizing his experience and knowledge of policy. That contrasted well with Obama’s whiny callowness.
Leave the bottle…
I’m going to need it.
My prayers are with you John, btw. And I prefer your summaries than most others on other websites.
had to watch the repeat on cspan, meant my friend & I got through our can or beer and even opened up a second one to keep up with the “my friends”! lol

Wow John I truly hate to hear that.. I wonder if many people realize with an Obama impending presidency, there are many companies wish will be doing wholesale reconsideration of their employee numbers. Personally, I commented on on of my own articles after being called “paranoid” by a troll with the following:
—————————————
“You are a fool.
You blindly follow the democratic talking points.
You fail to consider all of the evidence which supports my assertions.
You think because I disagree with you, I am relying merely on what my “right wing” blog buddies tell me.
You assume my paranoia by finding I have many reasons to argue against an enemy of free markets, and liberty.
Weak.. seriously weak. You haven’t a clue as to the nature of my experiences.
You ever have a car repossessed? It may have been me who took it. Bought a Pizza? I might have made it. Played a hand of blackjack in the local casino? I took your rent. Talked to an operator, seen the guy on the ore boats that roll through little bay Denoc? Been there. As I sit here, I am doing payroll for the few people who are lucky enough to have a job which pays better than Minimum and provides health.
They are here at MY LEISURE. Not because GOVERNMENT says they must be. And you know what? I don’t NEED half of them. But because I CAN, they are here. At the point (and it seems to be getting closer) where government feels I need to pay more, I have to make the hard decisions. THAT is what you buy with an Obama presidency.
When you can get off the government subsidized education nipple, and go out and actually create a job, create a product that sells, make a REAL contribution to society beyond your weak arguments for continued and expanded socialist policies, then you have the right to call me out on my paranoia.”

And that is as they say HOW IT IS. Liberals don’t get it. Real life, and how it works. No more abstract “this will happen if THIS happens..”
John, I am sorry to hear about your employment news. I have an idea you may be interested in. I bake cakes and you can do it legally in your home in VA-where I think you live as well. Anyway, I’ve never been so busy as I have been in the last 3 months. People are always getting married, having babies and birthday parties. Take a couple of cheap classes (with coupons) at Michael’s and get licensed. It has helped me get through some rough patches until something else better comes along. I am serious, just trying to help. I know what it means to scramble for work too.
As for the debate-snorfest is about right. I again ask, is it too late to flip the ticket?
Hmm…I seem to be the only one who thought the debate was interesting.
Anyway, I thought McCain won pretty easily I might add.
He won the the economic portion of the debate, which surprised me.
On foreign policy he is untouchable
Having said that I don’t know if it was enough to move the poll numbers.
But then again I am not sure what he could do to shift the momentum his way.
I get the impression McCain could produce pictures of Obama with a goat but the horse-brained masses will still bray Obama’s name
(probably add something like its ‘just sex’)
It wasn’t a barn burner but I would agree with Sorry Clown he won.
remember people.. Strategy. we were all hungry for the meaty substantive prods about O-Who’s background, but we have yet to be satiated. There is another Debate. Best to let the coaches call the plays at this point probably. If they blow it like Illinois at the Rose bowl last year (or Michigan any other year) THEN we are screwed.
Hi. My name is Reality Bytes and I’m voting for John McCain.
Admitting it is the first step to recovery.
