Open Bar – How Can We Help McCain Win?

This is a thread for constructive suggestions about how we can help drag Mr. McCain across the finish line.

The days are dwindling down to a precious few.

One suggestion: present information on Obama’s relationship with the fellow Luo Odinga. Corsi has been exploring it. This relationship strikes me as important and may generate fresh scrutiny as Ayers and Wright become played out.

  2. At the risk of sounding like a defeatist, asking the question, “How can we help McCain win?” at this point is akin to asking the farmer, after he has disc’d his field in the winter, then plowed, fertilized, and sowed his spring crops, “How can we grow some food?”

I dare say that everyone in this forum cares deeply about the outcome ten days from now, and has done due diligence in spreading the word to all who would listen. This election will come and go as all others before it, and this Republic will, indeed, survive, no matter what the outcome.

The answer is obvious: we talk about the issues as we always have. We don’t pull some 11th-hour emotional stunt that is designed to work in our favor. Our 11th hour has been every single day for the past 8 years, standing up to this American Idol culture of idiots who think that The Daily Show, The View, and Oprah are venues of deep political discourse.

Frankly, if you’re like me, you’re exhausted at this point. Doing the hard work of talking with others as an adult requires much mental energy in the face of such idiocy. I’ve been a soldier for the Conservative cause for 20 years, and I’ve got the scars to prove it. I won’t stop now, either. I will pick up the baton and run with it when the chance provides itself, forever willing to persuade others who may listen, and, as Socrates proved, incurring anger and ridicule along the way.

I am getting a sense that most people feel this election is over. The fact that this post has turned up on this forum,, and the small things people say (“Even if she may not win Governor Palin will be a political force in the future”. This statement has been used by various people with different openings “She may not win this election but” or “She will likely lose this election but”.) make me believe they are already have given up in this election. When I hear this I get a sinking feeling. Conservatives keep waiting for things to change the tables into their favor. The sense I am getting is that people are expecting to wait even further than this election and (like in 2006) we get to sit and hope that the people will wake up like they haven’t done for years in the 2010 congressional elections. Why can’t conservatism win this election? Why concede?

My only advice is BE POSITIVE. SPEAK OF THE ELECTION WITH CONFIDENCE AND CONVINCE THE PEOPLE WHO YOU ARE TALKING TO THAT JOHN MCCAIN CAN WIN THIS THING.

    1. Lie to pollsters. Stage 1: if polled, claim you are an independent or undecided who has recently flipped your support from Obama to McCain. Tell them — if asked — you are just getting a kind of creepy feeling about the Cult of Obama.

    2. Lie to EXIT pollsters. As you exit the polls after voting, look around to see if there are any exit pollsters around. If so, approach them to get polled. Tell them you are a Republican who voted for Obama. This will cause their exit numbers to be skewed and, though it won’t help McCain one iota, it will have the joyful effect of ruining the MSN’s election day coverage when they realize they can’t depend on their numbers. Oh, if it’s a Fox exit pollster, tell the truth. That way Fox will be the only networks making correct calls.

Again, this last idea is merely to destroy the fun of the Grant Park Party extravanganza. Maybe, if things get screwy enough, William Ayers can lead the partiers on a Rage Run along Lake Shore Drive.

Sorry, this post is mostly in jest (though I did send Rush Limbaugh an email asking him to restart Operation Chaos for the reasons stated above). My real suggestions will follow shortly.

It ain’t over till the fat lady sings and I haven’t seen Rosie O’Donnell anywhere in the last few months.

    My real suggestions:

    1. McCain and Palin should start hammering the libertarian themes of small government, low taxes, and liberty, liberty, liberty. I would say the word “Liberty” in every TV ad at least five times. I’d say it on the stump ten times. We’ve got about a week to inject that word into the conversation.

    2. Keep running that Biden ad where they quote him with his apocalyptic chant. It’s a great ad and should run every day in battleground states.

    3. Give Bill O’Reilly some strokes immediately: a duo interview with Palin and McCain. He is a meglomaniac and I know from having listened to his radio show for the past two weeks, he wants to support McCain/Palin but needs the ego gratification of having them on so he can think he made the difference. And he can make a difference because he does have a huge audience.

And don’t worry, Sarah (or John), about goofing up. Stroke Bill and he will purr like a kitten.

    4. Pray. I’m not joking. The Obama cult is like an evil spirit that has swept the land. I believe in my heart of hearts there are many within the cult who are starting to want out. The stomping sounds of the jackboots are starting to be noticed in the subconscious. Most middle of the road Americans, swept up in the cult fever, have already begun to notice the tingle has reversed itself and is now running down the leg rather than up it.

We need God to intervene with another Joe the Plumber only on an even bigger level. Without that, I’m not sure much else will matter.

I think there’s no silver bullet at this point. We have to stick to our principles and not try to win with any slight of hand. We will be vindicated by God, if not in 2008, then maybe later. I just hope, not too much later.

  7. AC.rocks

Latinos, there’s always a silver bullet. Sometimes the shooter may not pull the trigger in time. Remember – none of us know what’s going on behind the scenes. And, look at some positives hon… the media ALWAYS LIES FOR THE DEM’S. The polls are over weighted for BHO. Go read some archived columns from Ann Coulter. That’ll perk you up!!

The media can always screw up, someone can always accidentally leave a mike on. Right now, I hear B.Hussein.O saying we had “years of Bush-McCain policy” which is garbage. I never heard “W” talk about campaign reform for one thing — something I have to believe McCain regrets a whole lot by now.

Keep the faith! It ain’t over til it’s over.
P.S. If sleight of hand is the only way to win – - then sleight of hand it is!! Don’t be so righteous that you cut off your nose to spite your face. ~I know, I know, but I used to be idealistic too so I can say it :)

  8. AS For Divine intervention. This is it. We have an opportunity to present clear strategy for the last week of real action, and although I doubt our hero and heroine read this directly, SOMEONE will who has their ear. Count on it.

    1. Push for a McCain team response to Obama’s PAID half hour on TV. The networks will be salivating for it.
    2. Press the issue that an Obama win will mean the empowerment of a congress that enjoys a 91% disapproval rating
    3. GO and NOW into the smaller media markets in those swing states, and let the action news reporters ask their questions. Joe Biden recently BLEW it, and team McCain needs to recognize an opening. The smaller markets will play the interviews right up to the day of the election. What could be bigger for them?
    4. Without saying directly (at least not always) that Obama is a Socialist, EXPLAIN socialism to those who do not understand it. Let them make their own comparisons.
    5. POUND HOME “I am Joe the plumber” Pound home how his privacy was violated when he merely dared to ask a question of the would be emperor. Remind the public Obama has no use for the “average Joe.”
    6. Have Palin do what ever she is doing. Her rallies have been well received, and she draws a crowd. When someone on the left says “republicans don’t like Sarah,” point out she has better numbers than Obama at her rallies. We don’t have a problem here.
    7. Finally.. Point out how the Obama promoters have LIED with SHAM groups like http://michigantaxes.com/wordpress/?p=683 and http://michigantaxes.com/wordpress/?p=486 two supposedly pro conservative for Obama outfit. FRAUDS BOTH. Team Obama LIES to advance its Marxist agenda.

There may be more. Those are my current peeves.

  9. Sir Corky

    Jason,

That response that you’re pushing for in #1 of your points, can come much more cheaply in the form of a massive web cam show that McCain can host right after the Barack Obama half hour. A message board could even be manned by one of his advisors, who could type in websites for people to click on as McCain spoke, so they could see evidence for themselves.

  10. Simon Sez

McCain won’t make it to the finish line. He has been all over the place on his economic plan, and has been inconsistent as hell. We have a $700 billion bail out with another $150 BILLION added in and he has no response, nada! The candidate that was going to look after pork spending says nothing! Why? because he has been on the inside of these deals for so long he can’t criticize the boys he works with! Here’s a talking tip for free John – we are headed into a depression, Obama will exacerbate the problem with his taxes and support of hand outs at the tax payers expense, this economy is a perfect storm for a FDR kinda guy, but he made the depression last 10 years longer with his socialist programs, all to win him votes.

It really doesn’t matter readers, the fed has broke America, we have allowed our leaders to steal $850 billion from us while we already 52 trillion in the hole, TRILLION! When the green back is no longer the international currency because it is worthless countries will look elsewhere to invest. Obama will allow this to happen because he is inexperienced and a Marxist.

John the best thing about your campaign is Sarah! She could have beat Obama with one kid on her shoulder she has no ties to Washington so the elete Republicans hate her, Palin was your best moment, thanks for that!

Eww yuck. Has anyone seen this?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iivL4c_3pck

(I don’t know how to make it a link so I apologize in advance if it doesn’t.)

I agree with the a fellow poster on the forum I found it on. Those who need to hear it won’t even bother clicking because they just want to vote for Obama so badly.

  12. Have him not be John McCain?

Honestly, I got nothing. I’ve tried everything on my end, and at this point, I’m just looking forward to our fate, no matter what it be. I convinced 6 people to vote John McCain. All of them more black than Obama.

I’ve done my part, and hopefully, so have they.

  13. catie

I’ve made calls myself and gave what little I have to give, put out signs and had bumper stickers and had my car damaged to the tune of $1500. I don’t know what more we can do. I know Sarah Palin was here yesterday in the DC area for 2 rallies (unfortunately I couldn’t go this time) and it was minimal coverage on the 5 o’clock news on the ABC affiliate. Today the “messiah” is going to be in the Commonwealth for 3 spots as well. I will let you all know how much time is devoted to that. I like the weather guy on that station and I turn it off when he’s over. It’s sickening.

  14. Pat the Conservative

    Here’s some ideas:

Publicize just what exactly is in the Annenburg Challenge.
This is the foundation that Obama and Ayers worked so hard to promote. Just what kind of Marxist crap were they trying to spread?

Push Obama’s record on the second amendment – he’s a banner and cannot be trusted.

Check out page 90 of Obama’s book “the Audacity of Hope” where he says: “Ultimately, though, I have to side with Justice Breyer’s view of the Constitution – that it is not a static but rather a living document, and must be read in the context of an ever-changing world.” This is the same Justice Breyer who is responsible for the majority opinion on the decision which allows the local governments to steal our private property so they can increase property tax receipts.

Become your own local leader and rally. Aim to get ten or twenty people that you know; family, friends, co-workers, business partners, and church members. Have them commit to vote. If they believe passionately like you do, ask them to do the same. Help them find their resolve.

Write a personal letter, or one addressed to your family or social network. Express your convictions. So many people get caught up in the bumper stickers and buttons. Give them a voice and a reason, not a slogan.
