Obama attends memorial for his grandmother

President-elect Barack Obama gathered with family and friends on Tuesday for a private memorial service for the beloved grandmother who helped raise him.
Madelyn Payne Dunham, known to her friends as “Toot”, died Nov. 2, two days before Obama won election to become the nation’s first African-American president. She was 86.
Obama did not speak to reporters at the small home that had been converted into the First Unitarian Church in Nuuanu. Aides said Obama’s half-sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, and her husband, Konrad Ng, also were present.
Following the ceremony, Obama drove to the Lanai Lookout. He and about 20 members of his family climbed over a stone wall and down onto rocky ledges to scatter Dunham’s ashes.
Obama earlier this year left flowers at the same cliffs, in memory of his mother.
Better late than never.
Well, well, well glad to see that “typical white person” got a bit of due from her ungrateful grandson. It was very strange to me that when he ran out to HI to supposedly say “goodbye” to “Toot”, that he didn’t bring her great granddaughters with him. But it was convenient that she was dying while he needed to put the screws to that RINO governor, Linda Lingle. I think I know why old Michelle my belle didn’t go (it probably pains her that he’s half white but to have to see old whitey would upset her little apple cart) but why she didn’t send the “punishments” to say good bye to the woman who raised their father is a bit odd. But maybe he wasn’t as “close” to her as he liked to claim. Seriously wasn’t “toot” the first to be thrown under the bus?
If I have to hear one more time about how “poor” and up from “boot straps” this waxed “Adonis” was I am going to scream. This Punahou grad (the most expensive private school on Oahu) living with his g-mom, g-dad and absentee mother in Nuuanu was not “poor”. Nuuanu isn’t Kailua but it’s sure as heck cooler and greener than Ewa Beach where I resided for four years-(don’t get me wrong, Ewa is nice but that’s where Dog the Bounty Hunter is often seen picking up bail jumpers on his show).
I also believe he showed up at KMCB but he’s keeping that on the down low until it becomes feasible to show him “stopping by” to see his new peeps that he’ll be CIC over.
Yes better late than never for paying tribute to mommy and grandmommy. How nice of the “One” to take a few hours out of his beach and golf time to do that.
Catie, your post sounds very cynical. Don’t you know that there is a new fresh “Hopey-Changey” attitude blowing through the land as “The One” begins his ascension? How can anybody fault them for waiting over 7 weeks to hold the memorial service? He has been a little busy, I mean the world is not going to save itself you know!
But thanks to his greatness, soon the sky will be filled with puffy white clouds and rainbows, rivers of chocolate will flow and our thoughts will be filled with good time gum drop wishes as the unicorns return…
And if you ever say anything negative about “The One” again, there is a spot waiting for you in a re-education camp near by. But don’t worry, it will have state of the art, green powered, carbon neutral, no taxpayer expense spared infrastructure…
I can’t wait to see what the toilets are like in the re-education camps are like. Yee-haw.
You may be able to get better ones, but you probably can’t spend more for them! Since “The One” plans to spend his way out of the recession, the old cold war $600 toilet seats will seem like a bargain.
