NRCC ‘Bailout’ Ad: What Just Happened?

From the National Republican Congressional Committee:

What Just Happened?

Truly brilliant.

Though the Democrats do give them so much to work with.

  1. Probably shoulda mention the Republicans who also took in money from Fanny and Freddy.

Sorry to say, that neither side is clean. However, this is, and always will be, Slick Willy’s fault.

Flession, the money that went to Republicans was much smaller, and besides, it was Republicans who made decisive measures to impose “regulations”, which controverts everything Barack Obama claims now. So the ad stands fair as is.

The Republicans should accept some responsibility for pushing for laxer standards regarding bank oversight, for instance in the late 1990s when the GOP had Congress and Clinton colluded. But even with this lax oversight, and even with greedy people on Wall Street, the collapse would not have occurred were it not for the fact such a huge chunk of the US financial market was tied to a systematically dysfunctional GSE. And the GSE is a Democratically created and enabled creation.

  3. I’m not denying the legitimacy of the ad itself. I’m just saying that we’re not without fault either…but no matter how you slice it, majority of the blame should and does belong to the Democrats.

It’s their fault that they implemented such regulations and they were the ones who scared banks into allowing such insane loans to people for fear of being called racist and hit with a lawsuit. They are the ones who profit the most from this and the ones who profited prior to this situation.

I just recall both isles cheering when it first started, is all.

  4. Flession: “I just recall both isles cheering when it first started, is all.” I’d like to see your evidence of what you say you recall.
Isn’t it easy to stand here, now, as the house is burning down, as both Democrat and Republican are having to do the dirty business of putting it out, and try to sound even-handed when deciphering who started the fire?

I’m sorry, Flession, but you sound like some school marm who just walked in while two boys are slugging it out, and because you’re too tired to research and determine WHO did WHAT to whom, you just say, “you both were at fault for fighting.” Well, the truth is far different, and far more important to the victim, who was only defending himself after the bully swung at him for no reason.

The truth is far more important, here, also. This cancerous condition we’re in now was long-developing, for sure, where there may have been an occasional Republican who received Fan/Fred money AFTER the ball was already rolling, but it wasn’t the brainchild of Republicans to give home loans to unqualified people because of their race. Fan/Fred became the buying house for all of these race-based loans over the years, and of course, these two GSE’s tried to lobby to keep the ball rolling. But the genesis of the whole thing is squarely a Democrat plan to pay off minorities in order to increase Democrat votes in the future, no matter WHAT the financial fallout 20 years later.

As Latinos4JohnnyMac said, a small amount of Republicans were only minor benefactors from Fred/Mac AFTER the Democrats dreamed up this ponzi scheme to begin with. The Republicans were the ONLY ones sounding the alarm, and they should be remembered for such, also. They should NOT be lumped into, as you say, the same condition of “cheering when it first started.”

All things in government don’t start in the legislative branch. It is folly to use such a simple-minded regard when looking at complicated matters such as this financial crisis, and say “well, it wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for both Dems and Republicans in Congress.” It was HUD which muscled through MUCH of the policies which dictated the rise of this monster we call politically-correct home lending in the 90′s. If you’d like a little education, Flession, read the great article from [sic] The Village Voice that Ann and the Admin put up here: http://getdrunkandvote4mccain......ad-the-sec

  5. Blame is a good tool. There is no wonder why you wont here the liberal side saying “lets just not start the Blame game here”

BTW, for any who are interested.. Brian Moore, the Socialist party Presidential candidate has “Embraced” the new plan, and hope government will start owning even more of our market institutions..

    Surprised? Well of course not.

What just happened is Wall Street just socialized the financial markets, saving the Messiah the trouble when he’s elected. Which also just happened.

Have a family member doing some work for McCain. “Mac doesn’t attack”.

If he did, he might still win. Hopefully this all doesn’t damage Palin’s bright future.

Thank God that one Congressman from AL had the cajones to at least speak up. Let’s not forget that the Messiah has taken plenty of cash (can’t say for sure but I think he’s number 2 on the playlist).
I don’t know if McCain is going to be a shrinking violet on Tuesday night but if he does, it’s mega martini time.

  8. “Isn’t it easy to stand here, now, as the house is burning down, as both Democrat and Republican are having to do the dirty business of putting it out, and try to sound even-handed when deciphering who started the fire?”

Firstly, I was referring to the cheering back when Clinton implemented his cockamamie idea to force banks to give loans to people who really shouldn’t own $300K loans so they won’t be called racist.

I should have specified. My apologizes.

Secondly, I’m not arguing that fact, nor am I even suggesting equal blame. If it were just simply black and white, it would be the Demi’s fault, as I said. Believe me, my detest for the left grows with every single moment I read about the GSE and how hard they “screwed the pooch” with this.

But it’s not just a simple blame game.

It’s just that back when the Republicans had almost full control, they could have fixed this massive screw-up that Clinton left us. (Maybe I should be more specific when I say “massive screw-up Clinton left us”. There’s too many to count :D).

As Latinos said, and the more I think about it, is my beef with my party, is that for the first time in a really long time we had control of almost every aspect of Congress, and eventually the White House and we didn’t fix this…or for that matter, get offshore/onshore/in-betweenshore drilling passed.

Even though I’m pretty sure it has to do with the Left’s interference…

Anyways, I’m at least glad the Republicans called it out when they did. Makes it even more amusing to see the “boys in blue” squirm now, trying to shift more blame on us than it should be.

Oh, and I will read the article once I finish up my work (yea, I’m slacking off on my job :D) I skimmed it and it does looks to be a good read, John.
