I am not conceding either. But I am starting to feel like 1996 all over again. I think Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal will make an ideal ticket either way in 2012. If McCain wins, he’ll only do one term I believe. I think those two would make an awesome team. Look how he’s handled the hurricanes even though that buffon Nagin tried to say it was all his great glory.
I will join you gentlemen in an adult beverage but I will have a glass of wine instead. I stopped by Prince Michel on my way home from Charlottesville yesterday and got a 3 pack of wine. So while you all have some beer, I will drink a glass of Dry Rose and toast you all and the McCain/Palin ticket.

Doug–No one is conceding anything. This is a place where we can come to in order to relax, open up a beer, and share some inner thoughts. This has been a long fight, and what we say to each other here won’t distract from what we’ll do in the booth in a couple of weeks.

John, I agree exactly with what you just wrote. I think McCain is going to lose, but I’ll never forget how I changed by following this election — studying McCain led me to place greater emphasis on dignity, self-sacrifice, and patriotism. In that sense, in a small way, maybe he’s won. And he’s given us Sarah to nurture for brighter days later. I salute John McCain too.

This was McCain at his best, IMO. Truly humorous lines (great writers, btw), delivered well (especially for someone with McCain’s lack of public speaking skills), and punctuated with a statesman-like, sincere, show of appreciation for the skills of his opponent.

Admittedly, I agree with Catie, that it almost sounded like a concession speech at the end. And, truly, perhaps this old Navy pilot has flown his last mission, and is heading back to his carrier group, to dismount his bullet-ridden charriot one last time.

To John McCain, I salute you.

If only McCain could be funny like that all the time. However, I have to agree-I was almost waiting for him to concede the election at the event. And what the heck was up with that stupid visit to Letterman? Uuuuggggghhhhh.
I know it’s early, but it’s five o’clock somewhere and I feel the need for a drink.
